World Music Café presents its final ‘Dinner and Show’ for 2021 with a quality combination of culturally diverse artists featuring Chilean band Los Huaira, Javanese Gamelan Langen Swara, and Joshua De Silva and family from Sri Lanka, plus the incredibly talented chef Nimrod Kazoom, on Friday 3 December 2021 at the Camelot Theatre in Mosman Park.

World Music Café has attracted a huge following this year for its vibrant cultural experiences sharing quality professional and community multicultural artist performances with an inspired banquet of international cuisine.

Los Huaira, meaning ‘the wind’ in the ancient Inca language of Quechua, perform traditional music from the Andes region of Chile featuring the pan pipes, quena, charango, guitar and drum. Founded by Manuel Munoz in 1984, Los Huaira, have been performing traditional Chilean music in Perth for nearly 40 years linking back to the original Ethnic Music Centre in North Perth. Now with inter-generational band members, Los Huaira, play the beautiful soulful melodies and rhythms of the South American Andes.

Gamelan Langen Swara are Perth’s premier gamelan orchestra that perform traditional Indonesian music from central Java. Led by Ari Sofaridayat, Gamelan Langen Swara includes highly trained and experienced musicians that have been playing gamelan for many years, initially based at the Indonesian Consulate, and more recently at Murdoch University, home of the gamelan gifted to the people of Western Australia by the Governor of East Java in 1993. Gamelan Langen Swara perform accompaniment for traditional Javanese dance, shadow puppetry, and for many Indonesian cultural events, including the recent international Jogjakarfest in Yogayakarta via an online performance in 2020.

Joshua De Silva is a Sri Lankan Australian jazz guitarist recently seen with the fabulous Perth Choro. He returns to the Word Music Café with his family to share of special guest set of Sri Lankan music styles.

Nimrod Kazoom is the master chef mentor for the World Music Cafe kitchen team and brings his creative fusion where ‘tradition meets innovation’ to the bountiful World Music Café banquet. He trained and worked in Tel Aviv before relocating the Fremantle several years ago and has since built a massive following for his stunning artistic cuisine.

World Music Café is a collaborative social enterprise celebration of Perth’s vibrant multi-dimensional culture. The enterprise is developed by Multicultural Futures with community partner United in Diversity, and is currently supported by venue partner MosArts, and philanthropic partner, the Scanlon Foundation. Given most WMC shows sell out, patrons are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment.
