3-day Screen Acting workshop (Beginners)

SORRY, THIS WORKSHOP IS NOW FULL, BUT PLEASE CLICK THE BOOK NOW LINK TO JOIN THE WAIT LIST.

Over the course of 3 days, participants will take part in enjoyable exercises and activities that will help them learn foundational acting skills, including the difference between stage and screen acting techniques, observation and improvisation skills. They'll also develop an understanding of character building, storytelling and emotions, and build confidence and communication skills along the way. To get a real feel for the craft of screen acting, participants will have the opportunity to create and perform short scenes to camera and view their work in class.

The Filmbites Way is to provide a fun and nurturing environment where young actors feel safe to express their creativity. This workshop is suitable for 9-12 yr olds with little or no acting training, those who have some drama experience but wish to learn more specifically about screen acting, and also for those simply interested in some holiday fun while developing important life skills such as confidence, communication, focus and teamwork.

Filmbites Screen Academy is Perth's own screen skills training specialists for young people. Established in 2003, Filmbites has trained young actors who have gone on to appear in many well known films and TV shows, including H is for Happiness, Offspring, Go!, Tim Winton's The Turning, The Wilds, One of Us is Lying and many more.

Your instructor is Jessica Hegarty. Jessica is a much loved instructor who has taught at Filmbites for the past 13 years, most recently focusing on the Intermediate and Advanced level classes. Jessica has appeared in numerous films and TV commercials and writes many of her class film scripts. Jessica is also studying youth work. Her years of experience, knowledge of the craft of screen acting and understanding of children will make this workshop ideal for any young person interested in exploring a career on the screen, or just wishing to develop some communication skills and confidence.
